In one of our assignments, we developed an RFID-based system for the customer for the precise positioning of vehicles in industrial environments. Based on the customer's basic idea, we were responsible for the entire development of both hardware and software, including systems that communicate externally with the vehicle and continuously report its position to higher-level systems.
The requirements were high and placed great demands on robustness, reliability, and accuracy. One of the biggest technical challenges lay in the antenna design—achieving stable and repeatable readings in an environment characterized by strong electromagnetic interference, high currents, and large amounts of steel, while also meeting strict EMC requirements. Through optimized antenna design, carefully adapted impedance matching, and EMC-conscious electronics design, we were able to ensure reliable operation even in the complex environment of an electric forklift truck.
The result was a scalable and robust product that enables improved overview, more efficient flows, and greater precision in material handling.
